Avery Bradley 'did it all' for Celtics in Game 5 victory

The Celtics were always in control on offense, and that started with Thomas.

Game 6 is Friday night in Washington and the Wizards will be hoping to force a Game 7 in Boston on Monday night.

In a total team effort, four out of the five Celtics starters scored in double digits while two-guard Avery Bradley finished with a game-high 29 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists while making 12/19 field goals. The Celtics hit nine more 3-pointers on the night, making them almost impossible to slow down in their best performance of the series to date. Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors await in the conference finals.

The Celtics, who fashioned the teams' third 16-0 first-quarter burst of the series, and Wizards have played nine times this season. The Celtics found themselves down double digits after the first quarter in three of the previous four games, and they led by only four points after the opening quarter of Game 4, a game they wound up losing by 19 thanks to a terrible start to the second half. It was as if the teams had switched personalities since their lost weekend in Washington, where they had been demolished by runs of 22-0 and 26-0. The guard couldn't miss in the first two quarters, draining 10-of-13 shots for 25 points.

Not showing much fight on the floor - Boston Celtics star Isaiah Thomas chose to take his aggression out on a heckling Washington Wizards fan.

The Wizards responded with more energy after half-time, but each of their mini-runs were quickly beaten back by Boston, which continued to share the ball and take advantage of their fast break opportunities. The Celtics led by as many as 15 points in the first quarter.

"I'm treating it as the biggest game that I've ever played", Thomas said. Stevens needs to counter the adjustments Washington coach Scott Brooks made after Game 2.

John Wall led Washington with 21 points and Bradley Beal had 16 for the Wizards, who shot just 38.5 percent from the floor and were 24.1 percent from 3-pointers. He scored 12 points in both Games 1 and 2, both Washington losses, and is shooting 52 percent in his two-plus games against Boston. The Celtics did everything that allows the Wizards to be at their best, and failed to be successful in the areas most important to their success. "So we're looking at this as the first crack to do that". He was booed every time he touched the ball or committed a foul. The Celtics also ran all over the Wizards, which resulted in bushels of points and mismatches when they couldn't score immediately.

"They kind of surprised us", Wall said.

"We had to adjust a couple of things because of how much pressure they were putting on us and turning us over, " said Stevens.
