Talking about the revival of the show, Katy is the first famous name to feature on the show that was canceled some past year by the Fox Broadcasting.
In a statement, the “Chained To The Rhythm” hitmaker said: “I am honoured and thrilled to be the first judge bringing back the “American Idol” tradition of making dreams come true for incredible talents with authentic personalities and real stories”.
During its upfront presentation earlier this week, ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey announced Perry’s addition to the highly anticipated “American Idol reboot in its new network”.
Katy hasn’t confirmed if she’s really getting paid the seriously insane fee for heading to American Idol, though we’re guessing Perry probably wasn’t all that swayed by the price tag if the claims are true. She further said that she wants to bring this back to the music.
“I love Katy, she’s always honest”. Sequel to this single, the Grammy-nominated Perry has been dropping hot songs like “Fireworks” and ‘California Gurls.’ With her sense of vibrant outfits and exciting performances, she gears towards the young audience.
It isn’t the first time Katy will have appeared on the show, as she stepped in as a guest judge in 2009 after Paula Abdul left the panel. Singers such as Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson, Adam Lambert featured in this reality singing competition.
“I love being a judge on vocal talent shows”.
Though $10 – $15 million is serious money to pretty much anyone else, Katy already has a whole lot of cash in the bank, which means she probably wasn’t exactly hurting for another paycheque.
Between 2005 and 2007 when the show was booming, over 30 million people watched the show. Its season 11 finale in December drew 12.1 million viewers.
