Arsenal, Lyon target Lacazette declares he’s leaving Lyon

Arsenal target Alexandre Lacazette confirmed that he will leave Lyon this summer as he wants to test himself in another league to improve his status as one of the top strikers in Europe.

Liverpool and Atletico Madrid have entered the race for Lacazette and are likely to challenge Arsenal for his services in the summer.

He told l’Equipe: “I think it’s the right moment”.

In early February 2017, Lacazette reportedly revealed to French television show Canal Football Club about his intention to leave Lyon, but club president Jean-Michel Aulas denied the striker had asked to leave and argued that Lacazette’s comments were taken out of context by the media. They are set to receive around £50 million. In vain I say that I put goals, I know very well that on a European scale, I am not yet very recognized.

‘I want to see if I can answer the questions that people are asking, and to make further progress.

“It’s totally me [who will decide where he signs]”, the French forward added.

‘Atletico is a club that is in the last rounds of the Champions League for several years, ‘ Lacazette said. He also discussed the possibility of linking up with France team-mate Antoine Griezmann.

Moving to the La Liga outfit would allow a meeting with countryman Antoine Griezmann, provided he is not sold to Manchester United this summer – a scenario that appeals to Lacazette. It is a personal choice that has been carefully considered for a long time.

‘It would be a attractive story if we [Griezmann and Lacazette] could go on together, ‘ he said. The common goal was to be able to leave on good terms. There are always small groups, and he was a little bit alone, but we grew closer because we played together in attack and we got on well in life. “Afterwards, he climbed the ladder, he became an worldwide star, and he took more confidence, he opened up”. I am the one who will choose my future destination.
