The Bears signed second-round draft pick Adam Shaheen to his four-year rookie contract Friday, winnowing their list of unsigned draft picks to one – No. 2 overall pick Mitch Trubisky.
The Bears have now signed four of their five draft picks, leaving only quarterback Mitchell Trubisky unsigned.
The tight end’s deal is expected to be slightly larger than the contract signed by Titans running back Derrick Henry a year ago. That deal included more than $2.8 million in guarantees.
“Shaheen played at Division II Ashland University, but caught the eye of scouts because he’s a big man – 6’7”, 278 pounds – who moves well for someone his size. The first overall draft pick, Myles Garrett, of the Cleveland Browns, signed earlier today.
On May 11, the Bears inked fourth rounder Tarik Cohen and fifth rounder Jordan Morgan, and on May 15, they locked up their other fourth round pick, Eddie Jackson. Exact amounts for Shaheen and Morgan are not yet known.
