Mesa Police Department: Men killed in separate homicides

Mesa police are investigating two unrelated homicides in which men were killed.

At 8 p.m. on Thursday officers responded to a possible shooting call near Southern Avenue and Mesa Drive and found a 31-year-old man dead at the scene. The woman was treated for her injuries and released.

Four people were killed in less than half a day in suburbs east of Phoenix, police in two cities said.

Mesa officers also responded to a reported assault around 3:30 a.m. Friday in the area of 1464 S. Stapley Drive.

Police say they are still looking for a suspect in that homicide case.

The other man, a 19-year-old, died early Friday near Stapley Drive and USA 60.

No suspects were found and the investigation is ongoing.

Mesa PD did not release suspect information or the names of the victims in either incident.
