The NXT Tag Team Championship ladder match that is scheduled to take place at tomorrow night’sNXT TakeOver: Chicago could be in doubt following an incident at an NXT live event last night in Highland Heights, Kentucky. This will be the first NXT TakeOver event not associated with a Big 4 pay-per-view to be held outside of Full Sail.
When they ran an angle after the May 10 edition of NXT went off the air which featured Roderick Strong being attacked by Eric Young’s SAnitY stable – including Roddy asking General Manager William Regal for a shot at avenging himself – wrestling fans everywhere knew what was coming.
Days before they battle over Bobby Roode’s NXT Title, The Glorious One hurls trash-talk the way of his challenger, Hideo Itami, prompting the proud warrior to fight his way to the ring. He went on to say the match was stopped as a precaution, and Ciampa says he is good to go for Takeover, but it will still be the medical team that gets to make the final call. Aleister Black will also be in action before TakeOver but an opponent was not named. Strong and Eric Young will round out the TakeOver card and be the only match that isn’t for a title, but sometimes grudge matches are more important than championship belts.
Since I don’t get to watch NXT live very often (and have to deal with those pesky spoilers), I made a decision to add in my prediction for each match as well.
