Wenger’s future will be decided after FA Cup

– Reuters picLONDON, May 20 ― Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said he felt “sad” that his former captain Tony Adams claimed the Frenchman “couldn’t coach his way out of a paper bag”.

Reports suggest Wenger is planning to stay and if that is the case the 67-year-old could do with boosting his plunging approval ratings by somehow gate-crashing the Champions League party.

As well as facing supporter protests during the season, Wenger has found an increased criticism from a host of his former Gunners players.

When asked whether a decision will be announced shortly after the FA Cup final, he replied, “Of course”.

“One is, of course, what is happening with the manager, the future, the players to come in and things like that”. I don’t think the amount empty seats is too concerning, I just think it goes to show that the fans are disappointed with the club’s activities this season and don’t think that going to games are worthwhile at the moment. In their previous away game at Stoke, a plane was flown over the stadium which read “Wenger – out means out”.

Arsenal go into the final round of league fixtures in fifth. “Our chances don’t matter – all we can do is win our game”.

It’s hard to know what will happen, but there is at least a more concrete time frame as to when his future will be revealed.

The club looked destined for the drop when he took over and their relegation from LaLiga has since been confirmed with Adams losing all of his six games.

He continued: “Looking back, I believe there were a couple of major reasons why Arsene didn’t want me back at Arsenal“.

Their protestations have largely been paid for by crowdfunding websites, and it remains to be seen what sort of reaction Wenger and his players will receive during the usual end of season parade lap on Sunday.

“It is our last game of the season at the Emirates, yes”.

Danny Welbeck will be first-choice centre forward if Alexis Sanchez leaves the club at the end of the season and, no doubt, Arsenal need to sign a top-class striker if they are to be competitive in the Premier League next season.

Arsenal could welcome Laurent Koscielny back for the clash with Everton with Aaron Ramsey also available.

“And I was delighted to see so many of them not turn up the other day”.

When you’re a football player, you ideally want to be playing in a packed stadium, but we are quite spoiled with that at Arsenal.

“It all left me feeling that I would never get a chance in any capacity while Arsene was there”. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will miss out but should be fit for the FA Cup final in a fortnight.

Tony Adams is the latest to hit out at Wenger for not hiring him since retirement.
