The Temple Mount and the Western Wall "will forever remain under Israeli sovereignty", Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in an address to the Knesset session. "We kind of make, bring a smile to the children, '" Mrs. Netanyahu said. Standing with Trump after their talk in Abbas' presidential residence, Abbas said that Palestinians "are committed to working with you to reach a historic peace deal between us and Israel".

JOHN YANG: On the last day of his Israel stop, Mr. Trump visited Yad Vashem, the nation's Holocaust memorial.

Based on a September 2016 agreement, the United States will be bankrolling Israel's military spending to the tune of around $38 billion dollars effective from 2019 for the next 10 years.

"[Trump] has made the point several times: we solve the Israeli-Palestinian peace dilemma, we start solving a lot of the peace throughout the Middle East region", he said.

Under the deal, Israel will be allowed to upgrade most of its fighter aircraft, improve its ground forces' mobility and strengthen its missile systems. I believe that together we could roll back Iran's march of aggression and terror in this region and we can thwart Iran's unbridled ambition to become a nuclear weapon state.

"We are ready to open dialogue with our Israeli neighbours to build confidence and create a real opportunity for peace", he said after talks with Trump. "The terrorists and extremists and those who give them aid and comfort must be driven out from our society forever", Trump said. Arab media have been overwhelmingly supportive of the president's speech and visit.

"This place is a testament to the unbreakable spirit of the Jewish people", Trump said. The prime minister, who had a frosty relationship with Trump's predecessor, heaped praise on the president throughout the two-day visit, declaring: "We understand each other". We want Israel to have peace. The U.S. president also omitted a key phrase.

Both sides are wary of being accused of resisting Trump's peace efforts or being cast as obstructing the resumption of talks.

The visit raised questions about whether the USA would indicate the site is Israeli territory.

"At a time when UNESCO and others continue to deny Jewish history, identity and rights in Jerusalem and Israel in general, the president's visit to the Western Wall serves as a critical reminder to the world that Israel is the ancestral homeland of the Jewish people". And just after Trump makes the statement, Israel's ambassador to the United States, Ron Dermer, is seen running his hand through his hair - a move that some have interpreted as embarrassment on the president's behalf.
