Keys: Ducks at Predators, Game 6

Pontus Aberg's first career postseason goal lifted the Nashville Predators to a 3-1 win in Game 5 of the Western Conference Final Saturday night against the Ducks in Anaheim.

The Predators took a 2-1 lead on Aberg's goal at 11:01 of the third period. Oh... and Anaheim is 2-0 when facing elimination this playoff season. Down 3-2 in the best-of-seven series, there is no turning back now. Bernier stopped 16 of 18 shots faced, while Gibson was a ideal 10-for-10 for the Ducks in the first period. Anaheim needs to be more physical with the Nashville defense and reduce the amount of time they have.

ANAHEIM, Calif. — The injuries keep mounting. They need to dare the officials to call it... then dare the Preds to beat them with the power play.

That means things will be easier for the Ducks, no longer having to deal with the top centre on the opposing team, but they still have to be mindful of James Neal and Filip Forsberg, who are more than capable of compensating for the loss of a key contributor. Rakell has scored seven times in the postseason and was termed day-to-day by Carlyle, who assigned the same status to injured forward Patrick Eaves (career-high 32 goals), sidelined for the past nine games of the playoffs. If he is to go, he will probably not be 100 percent and that's not ideal for a big game on the road.

Johansen had one goal and three assists in four games against the Ducks, who deployed their shutdown defensive line centered by Ryan Kesler against Nashville's top line. "So it's something we're focused on, but it's just about that next game and getting the next win".

"The term I would use to describe this effort is gutsy", Predators coach Peter Laviolette said. And the same guys know how to step in and do a good job.

When asked about the onus to do more in Johansen's absence, Forsberg took the opportunity to praise teammates Aberg and Frederick Gaudreau, who was recalled from the American Hockey League to fill Fisher's spot centering the second line and power-play unit. I don't think that Game 1 led to Game 3.

Now that they have a chance to eliminate the Ducks at Bridgestone Arena, there will be a huge sense of urgency to do it now rather than head back to Anaheim for a deciding Game 7. So that gives us a lot of confidence in his abilities.

Both teams are dealing with injuries that could affect their offense.

"On Thursday, May 25, Ryan Johansen was treated for an acute compartment syndrome of the left thigh". He has an undisclosed injury. The Ducks have major injury concerns of their own after starting goaltender John Gibson (lower body) exited Game 5 and Rickard Rakell, a 33-goal scorer during the regular season, sat out the contest.

Eaves will miss his 10th consecutive game.
