All Eyes on Georgia: Voters to Settle Priciest House Election in History

The candidate won loud cheers at a weekend rally when she told the crowd: “We are gonna rock Nancy Pelosi’s world”.

“We can not let up. On Tuesday, #VoteKarenHandel“, said the president on Twitter.

On the final night before voting, though, he played to the base. It has elected Republicans for decades, but Trump carried it by only 1 percentage point in 2016.

Then he offered a list of priorities sure to rouse any liberal. Ossoff has said “history will condemn us” for doing so.

The AJC reports that more than $50 million has been spent on the race, “already the most expensive election of its kind”, and a massive chunk of that has been funneled into advertising.

30-year-old Democrat Jon Ossoff, a political newcomer, is looking to win the House seat vacated by Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price, in the historically Republican surburban Altanta district. “I believe this election will prove that Tuesday”. If Ossoff brings the district back under the Democratic umbrella, the national takeaway likely will be that the election is a sign that voters are dissatisfied with Republican lawmakers and by proxy Trump’s presidency, giving confidence to Democrats that more Congressional seats can be flipped.

Republicans see an opportunity to squelch Democratic enthusiasm.

Big day tomorrow in Georgia and SC.

Still, all four of those seats are traditionally Republican.

Handel is facing Democrat Jon Ossoff, who has come under for living just outside the district. “And that’s why we’re so focused on getting out the vote”, Ossoff said.

In case this weren’t quite enough, other Republicans, hoping to give Karen Handel’s (R) campaign an 11th-hour boost, are trying to deceive local voters. And I really do think the congressional baseball shooting is going to decide the election.

Great America Alliance, a pro-Trump non-profit group that previously ran ads attacking former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey during his testimony, is running an ad that quotes Obama narrating his autobiographical book “Dreams From My Father”. Police blocked streets in Handel’s neighborhood after packages “with threatening letters and a suspicious substance” were delivered to her and her neighbors, according to her campaign.

GOP Chair for the 11th District Brad Carver is backing off some remarks he made to the Washington Post.

“There are many in this community, myself among them, who have deep concerns about the direction of things in Washington, about the integrity and competence of this administration”, he said.

She’s since concentrated Republican support.

Envelopes containing a white powder turned up last week in the home mailboxes of Handel and a few neighbors, prompting a probe by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. “I needed to do something to change it”. The ad claims “the unhinged left” is “applauding” the shooting (even though there’s no evidence that supports this claim).

Handel told reporters Monday that she hadn’t seen the ad.

The television spot, produced by the Principled PAC, showed an image of Mr Scalise on a stretcher after the attack.
