James Pearce is now confirming that Mohamed Salah will be arriving in London late tonight ahead of the impending expected completion of this transfer saga.
Since the end of the season, the Reds have been heavily linked with a move for Roma’s Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah and, according to a deleted tweet from EgyptAir, the former Chelsea man has travelled into the United Kingdom today to finalise a deal.
EGYPTAIR have fuelled rumours Mohamed Salah is on his way to Liverpool after tweeting that he was on a flight.
Roma were said to be holding out for £35million, and as negotiations continue, Salah has been allowed to travel to England, presumably with the two clubs closing in on an agreement.
He has already agreed terms with the Reds, and will now fly in to undergo a medical, before signing what is likely to be a five year contract at £90,000 a week.
It means the proposed £37m deal is set to break Liverpool’s transfer record as it will eclipse the £35m the Merseysiders paid Newcastle for Andy Carroll back in 2011.
Three years ago Liverpool were outbid by Chelsea when Salah left Swiss side Basel for £11 million, but they have continued to admire the player who has improved significantly since then and is seen as the ideal fit into Jürgen Klopp’s system.
Klopp knows he needs to add depth as Liverpool prepare to mount a serious title challenge and compete in the Champions League and Salah will provide competition for the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mane.
