Conte set to become highest-paid manager in Chelsea’s history

Reports have it that Antonio Conte is close to signing a contract renewal with Chelsea, following positive talks.

And the Blues are keen to reward Conte with a mammoth new deal.

There were rumors that Conte was considering leaving Stamford Bridge, after tension arose between the Italian and the Chelsea front office following his dismissal of Diego Costa.

But, the 47-year-old is still expected to put pen to paper and become the club’s highest paid manager in their history with a salary in the region of £10m-a-year.

The Italian was announced as Jose Mourinho’s permanent successor last April.

Conte will be handed a £200m war chest to upgrade his squad in preparation for Champions League football next season.

Chelsea are talking to Everton about a deal for Romelu Lukaku and want to bring in Juventus left-back Alex Sandro plus Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco.

The Belgium worldwide said in an interview earlier this month that he would have to consider his future at Chelsea if the Spanish giants made an offer for him.

“Obviously winning the league is what we want most, and this award is just a bonus”.

“I’ve been here five years now and I’m so happy”.

“The club has been very important in his career”.
