Mueller Hires 13 Lawyers for Special Counsel

US President Donald Trump has lashed out on Twitter over reports he is under investigation for possible obstruction of justice, saying he is the victim of a “witch hunt“.

While Rosenstein has some supervisory responsibilities for the FBI’s investigation of Russian meddling in the 2016 election and whether any Trump aides conspired with that campaign, the probe is being led by Mueller, the special counsel Rosenstein appointed in the wake of Comey’s firing.

Despite the phony Witch Hunt going on in America, the economic & jobs numbers are great.

Earlier, US media reported that Donald Trump was being investigated by special counsel Robert Mueller for possible obstruction of justice.

The letter said the investigation would also probe Comey’s testimony that Loretta Lynch, attorney general under former U.S. president Barack Obama, had directed him to describe an FBI probe into former USA secretary of state Hillary Rodham Clinton’s e-mail practices as merely a “matter” and to avoid calling it an investigation.

Although he didn’t name anyone, Trump appeared to be pointing the finger at Rod Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general who began overseeing the Russian Federation investigation after Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from it.

“The FBI leak of information regarding the president is outrageous, inexcusable and illegal“, a spokesman for Mr Trump’s legal team, Mr Mark Corallo, said.

US President Donald Trump today ridiculed as “phony” and “witch hunt” claims about collusion between Russian Federation and his associates after media reports that he is being investigated for possible obstruction of justice. Sessions cited the policy of the Justice Department, but also said that he did not want to limit Trump’s ability to invoke executive privilege.

It was not immediately clear what prompted the release of that statement by Rosenstein, whether it was in response to recent stories that suggested the President was under investigation for obstruction of justice, or some other reason.

On Thursday, Vice President Mike Pence hired an outside lawyer to advise him and represent his legal interests. He said he believes Mr Trump ultimately fired him “because of the Russian Federation investigation”. “Nice”, the president tweeted. Then Trump asked Comey to make a public statement to that effect.

One memo recounts a February request from Trump, during a private meeting in the Oval Office, that Comey end an investigation into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.
