President Trump acknowledges he’s being investigated

Details from some memos were made public in news media accounts in the days after he was sacked, and Comey himself detailed his conversations with Trump at a Senate hearing last week. “Nice”, Trump wrote on Twitter.

The network appealed to the Department of Justice for a faster response to the request.

The New York Times sued the FBI on Friday, seeking a court’s help in getting the agency to turn over documents created by fired FBI Director James Comey after his conversations with President Donald Trump.

The president appeared to stop tweeting long enough to get some sleep, but he was back at it bright and early Friday.

The obstruction of justice investigation into Trump began days after Comey was sacked, according to people familiar with the matter, the Washington Post said.

Mueller is overseeing a host of investigations involving people who are or were in Trump’s orbit, people familiar with the probe were quoted as saying.

The move ordered Thursday by the transition’s general counsel cast a wide net on documents tied to the Russian Federation investigation as well as inquiries into the activities of Trump associates.

Examining such possible charges will allow investigators to interview key administration figures, including Attorney-General Jeff Sessions, Deputy Attorney-General Rod Rosenstein and possibly Mr Trump himself, said the source familiar with Mr Mueller’s investigation. He said he believed Trump had directed him to drop a related agency investigation into the president’s former national security adviser, Michael Flynn.

Sessions said only the president has to power to invoke executive privilege but explained that neither he nor Trump had made a decision to do so. “That’s undemocratic on its face and a blatant violation of the president’s oath of office”.

A gunman opened fire on a Congressional baseball practice early Wednesday morning in Alexandria, Virginia.

A spokesman for Mueller’s team declined to comment on Wednesday.

The president has denied that he has any nefarious ties to Russian Federation and also has disputed that he’s attempted to block the investigation into his campaign’s possible role in Russia’s election-related hacking.

The president did not directly address allegations that he is being probed for possibly obstructing justice – a potentially impeachable offense.

The tweets came shortly after Rosenstein issued his unusual statement that appeared to be warning about the accuracy of such reports.

He continued: “Americans should be skeptical about anonymous allegations”. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said in a statement.

“He’s driving this”, the White House official said, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss West Wing internal deliberations.

The White House confirmed that Mueller was among the candidates Trump interviewed to replace Comey.

The transition official said the organization has also separately asked the General Services Administration to preserve records from the Trump transition that were transferred to its facilities after Trump’s inauguration. Comey told Congress last week that he believed he was sacked “because of the Russian Federation investigation”. This week, Rosenstein assured members of Congress he would not remove Mueller – except for good cause. “Why is that Hillary Clintons family and Dems dealings with Russian Federation are not looked at, but my non-dealings are?”, Trump tweeted just before 4 p.m. EDT.

The Post reported that FBI agents and federal prosecutors are also looking into the financial dealings of Flynn, former campaign chairman Paul Manafort and former campaign policy adviser Carter Page.

Vice-President Mike Pence has hired an outside lawyer to handle his response to inquiries into possible ties between President Trump’s campaign and Russian Federation.

Trump’s personal attorney, Marc Kasowitz, responded to this report evading responsibility and blaming leakers.

“This is not the way the justice system is supposed to work”, Trump’s attorney added. He has already been subpoenaed by the House Permanent Select Intelligence Committee.
