In Arkansas, the price rose about 3.5 cents per gallon from the average previous year, but it dropped 4.5 cents per gallon than the price a month ago.
According to a survey by AAA Northeast, self-serve, regular unleaded gas is averaging $2.18 per gallon in MA, which is seven cents lower than the national average.
July has been a steady month at the gasoline pump in Florida as prices for a gallon of gas remain stable.
The global glut of oil, including rising USA production levels, has kept the industry from rebounding too much since a two-year oil bust that began in late 2014.
Gas prices are at their lowest level in four years and still dropping, falling below $2 a gallon in some areas.
Gas prices in Rhode Island and MA increased slightly this week. This is three cents cheaper than last week’s average.
“Oil prices, after sagging to close the month of June, had started July by surging, only to let up shortly after”, DeHaan said. The most costly gallon of gas in the state was recorded in West Palm Beach, where the fuel was averaging $2.24 per gallon, AAA officials said.
“We’re likely to again see…gas prices rising in most areas, falling in a few, and perhaps changing little in a handful of places as well”, he said.
$2.81/g in 2016, $3.34/g in 2015, $4.34/g in 2014, $4.34/g in 2013 and $4.19/g in 2012. This compares with the national average that has fallen 1.7 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.24/g.
Anchorage- $2.61/g, flat from last week’s $2.61/g.
