Costa and Matic are soon to be heading out of London. Key to the Blues’ upturn in fortunes during the 2016/17 campaign were the arrivals of David Luiz and N’Golo Kante, however, it would be naive to overlook the improvement in Eden Hazard and Diego Costa under the Italian.
As reported by Telegraph Sport, Costa has already said his goodbyes to his Chelsea team-mates.
Costa was heavily linked with a move to Tianjin Quanjian midway through last season but the Chinese Super League’s transfer window has now closed.
It could still sign the €79.5 million (£70 million)-rated Costa but the player would not be able to compete in any Atletico games until the ban is over, in January.
The 23-year-old Carrasco scored 10 goals and made four assists for Atletico Madrid last season in the Spanish league.
It doesn’t seem as though Costa holds any grudges towards his head coach for that infamous text message earlier this summer, but it’s now a question of when rather than if he returns to his beloved Atletico.
Lukaku has since signed for Manchester United and Costa. well, Costa doesn’t look like reporting for preseason training any time soon.
Chelsea are all set to make a stunning return to the transfer market spotlight if reports in calciomercatoare to be believed. However, it is likely that the Belgian youngster will again be used as backup and a more household name will be brought to Stamford Bridge.
