Herrera: “I thought I’d be playing with Morata at Man United”

According to the report, United are willing to pay Herrera £200,000 a week PLUS bonuses.

In turn, that means the 27-year-old could earn £41.6m over the course of the deal, as he becomes one of the highest paid players at Man Utd having proven his importance last season after establishing himself as a key figure for Mourinho.

Herrera had been linked with a return to Spain with Barcelona after his former manager Ernesto Valverde took over the hot-seat in Catalonia following Luis Enrique’s departure at the end of the last campaign.

“He’s happy and I know this is going to sound repetitive because I always say the same but David is one of the few keepers who wins you points“, said the midfielder.

Herrera also talked about his global teammate Alvaro Morata who was strongly linked with United before the Red Devils signed Romelu Lukaku.

Manchester United want to keep Herrera at the club amid concerns Barcelona could swoop for the Spain worldwide. “Too bad he is not with us but I wish him well”.

United failed to reach an agreement with Real Madrid for the striker and signed Romelu Lukaku instead.

Herrera told Spanish publication Marca: “Madrid are the most powerful side at the moment”.

He’s been made the club’s vice-captain and a new deal is expected to be announced during the current pre-season tour of America. If we had to play against Juventus I’d be equally motivated.
