A 12-year-old girl died in a water skiing accident on Newfound Lake in Hebron, New Hampshire, on Monday morning.
The horrific episode occurred shortly before 8:30 a.m. on Newfound Lake in Hebron, N.H., according to State Police. Her father, Sherwood Anderson, was steering the boat back toward where she had fallen when “his attention was momentarily distracted as his hat was blown from his head”, according to police.
Sherwood Anderson placed the boat in neutral and moving at slow speeds, it traveled over Anderson, causing serious injuries to her torso, the release says.
The girl has been identified as Zoe Anderson, a resident of Highland Ranch, Colorado. She was assisted from the water and immediately transported to shore by her family.
Her family, who was in the boat, lifted her out of the water and tried to give Zoe CPR, but their efforts were unsuccessful.
Police continue to investigate the devastating incident.
