Liverpool reportedly could enter deal for attacker with Championship side

Van Dijk remains Jurgen Klopp’s number one summer target and new Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino has insisted he will not stand in the centre-back’s way.

The 23-year-old is soon to join up with the Liverpool squad ahead of the club’s pre-season campaign, which will see the Reds play against the likes of Bayern Munich, Crystal Palace and Hertha BSC.

“We pretty much have all you need [to conclude the deals]”.

Can played a major role in Liverpool’s successful season which saw them finish in the top four.

This is where I believe Jurgen Klopp can really show his worth as many players want to play under such a coach who is not only like a father figure, but a tactical mastermind.

A move for Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk was scuppered by claims they tapped up the Dutch worldwide while RB Leipzig continue to play hardball over Naby Keita. Last summer, Liverpool didn’t make any other deals after July 22, but Klopp realizes this is not possible this year. He has been deployed to good effect in central defence by Klopp but, with the prospect of a regular starting role limited, the Liverpool manager will not stand in the way of an exit should Lucas opt to leave.

The former Borussia Dortmund manager is also keen on signing a midfielder this summer and has identified Red Bull Leipzig’s Naby Keita as his preferred target. I think everybody will be looking for the players they want.

“We have such a talented squad, such stars who people want to buy but we are here with a reason – because of the club – and no-one wants to go”. “It is all about doing the right things”. If he does end up signing for Liverpool, we can expect him to replace Lovren and partner Matip in Klopp’s starting XI. “It is about how it all fits together”.
