R. Kelly Reportedly Holding Women Against Their Will in an Abusive Cult

Three people with intimate knowledge of the situation – Cheryl Mack, Kitti Jones and Asante McGee – have also provided details confirming the parents’ story.

According to the story, Kelly takes the women’s personal cell phones when they go to live with him in properties in Chicago and the Atlanta suburbs, providing them with a new phone with which they are only allowed to contact him, unless they’ve obtained his permission to communicate with someone else. When the Georgia woman laughed at one of the male driver’s jokes, another woman in the auto texted Kelly about the “violation”.

According to a report in Buzzfeed News, six young women live with Kelly, whose real first name is Robert, in properties that he rents in Chicago and Atlanta.

Her parents tell BuzzFeed that when they last saw her in December 2016, she appeared to be “brainwashed” and “looked like a prisoner”.

R. Kelly’s lawyer released a statement to BuzzFeed in response to the claims. And while many of these parents were aware of R. Kelly’s history of being a singer who allegedly preys on young women (the 50-year-old was last rumored to be dating a 19-year-old) they didn’t think it would happen to their daughters or assumed there would be guardians looking out for them.

R. Kelly also allegedly requires the women to wear jogging suits so that their “figure is not exposed”.

J said she’d heard about past sexual misconduct accusations against Kelly, but wasn’t overly anxious.

The “Bump N’ Grind” performer has faced numerous allegations of engaging in sex with underage girls, but the women said to be involved in this so-called “cult” are all above the legal age in the respective states.

Theresa and her husband, Angelo, said they rushed to the hotel and called the police, who advised them to deal with hotel security. I hope that if I get her back, I can get her treatment for victims of cults. According to Jones, Kelly once held her up against a wall outside of a Subway and slapped her after he determined she’d been too friendly with the cashier. “[She] looked like a prisoner-it was disgusting”, the mother said.

R. Kelly has been accused of holding women in a cult-like setting in his homes.

“I desperately want my daughter back but I’m not [sure] what will [be] the repercussions if she doesn’t come willingly”, Theresa said. A police report obtained by BuzzFeed from the Cook County Sheriff’s office in Chicago notes that the 21-year-old singer from Georgia told police during a welfare check in January 2017 that she was “fine and did not want to be bothered with her parents because her father was threatening people”.

“We needed to make sure it was about music, because he was going to mentor her”, the mother said. You have to ask for permission to go to the toilet… “But Robert is the devil”, McGee said, suggesting that the singer has two personalities. When the pornography case was tried in 2008, Kelly was acquitted on all charges. Police in both IL and Georgia have conducted welfare checks at both properties in the past year that have not brought any charges. Kelly has settled more than a dozen civil lawsuits out of court with cash payments.

“Like all of us”, she added, “Mr. Kelly deserves a personal life”. Kelly was not with her at the time, but other members of the entourage were, and one of the women reportedly texted Kelly to report what the other had done.
