Ernesto Valverde’s side have been rebuffed in their attempts to negotiate a deal for PSG’s Marco Verratti but Robert made it clear they will not sign a player of anything less than the highest quality, despite their challenging transfer window so far.
Barcelona sporting director Roberto Fernandez admits the Catalan giants are yet to reach an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain over the potential transfer of Marco Verratti.
Valverde said in a press conference that the club is working on improving the squad, but he is not thinking about getting any new players as he is focusing on those he already has in the team.
However, Valverde insists that both players have a future at Camp Nou. “The more good players we have, the more chances we’ll have to achieve it”. “For me, the best signings are those who are in my team”.
“If it happens, then that would be great”.
The midfielder has been a big hit at White Hart Lane since arriving from MK Dons two years ago and is now billed as one of England’s best players.
“Barca are always monitoring the best players”.
Questioned on Barca’s interest in Brazilian midfielder, Paulinho, Valverde stuck to the same line, saying: “It’s hard to improve what we have in the team”. There are always a lot of names and the summer is long, but for me the important thing is to get the best form out of my players.
However, according to recent reports, Barcelona will have to think twice before shipping out Rakitic as the heartthrob of the club Lionel Messi is a close friend of Rakitic and wants the 29-year-old to be kept at all costs.
