Following the Star Wars: The Last Jedi panel at D23, during which we got a behind-the-scenes sizzle reel for the hotly-anticipated blockbuster [watch it here], director Rian Johnson is out doing the media rounds, discussing everything from the meaning of the title (once again) to the heart of the blockbuster during an interview with Good Morning America. Her endlessly charismatic breakout performance in The Force Awakens (2015) made her a mega star, and we can’t wait to see where her character goes from here. We obviously didn’t make the movie to be her final film-final Star Wars movie. This included looks at a variety of the film’s amazingly colourful locations and alien creatures, as well as shots of some great looking set pieces. In striking new character posters for The Last Jedi, both Rey and Luke are gripping the same iconic lightsaber, previously owned by Luke’s father, Anakin.
Fisher says during the footage that “it’s about family, and that’s what’s so powerful about it”. In much lighter news: “IT’S A WRAP!”.
Along with the video featurette, we also got a trio of brand new posters focusing on Ridley’s Rey, John Boyega’s Finn, Fisher’s General Leia, Hamill’s Luke Skywalker, Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren and Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron that will have fans seeing red. Given that there’s a chase scene in Looper that haunts my dreams to this day, I can absolutely believe that there will be a few unhinged moments in The Last Jedi.
Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi will be released in United Kingdom cinemas on December 14, 2017. New cast members will include Academy Award victor Benicio Del Toro, Academy Award nominee Laura Dern, and newcomer Kelly Marie Tran as Rose.
