As Tottenham Hotspur fans await their first signing of the summer, the winger has officially returned to France for good.
TOTTENHAM have confirmed they have agreed a deal to sell Clinton Njie to Marseille on a permanent transfer.
Njie was snapped up by Tottenham from Lyon, but struggled to make an impact during his one season in English football.
The 23-year-old had joined Spurs from Lyon in 2015 for £8.3m, but after a disappointing season in England, he joined Marseille on a loan move last summer.
N’Jie, who is capable of playing out wide, only started twice for the Lilywhites and his sole contribution came against Manchester City in September 2015 when he provided Erik Lamela to score Spurs fourth goal as they ran out 4-1 winners.
Tottenham Hotspur confirmed Njie’s tranfer on Sunday by posting on their official Twitter page that they have reached an agreement with Marseille for a permanent transfer of Clinton Njie. “We wish Clinton all the best for the future“.
But Pochettino’s side have a wretched record up Wembley Way, since it was re-opened in 2007, with their only wins coming against Chelsea in the 2008 League Cup final and CSKA Moscow in last season’s Champions League.
