Borussia Dortmund have received a last-minute bid from Real Madrid for Ousmane Dembele, according to a report in Spanish news outlet, AS. The Blaugranas seem to experience more difficulties than they envisaged to replace Neymar, left at the PSG.
Dembele has been eyed by Barca since Neymar completed his world-record EUR222million switch to Paris Saint-Germain last week.
A three-man delegate from Barcelona traveled to Germany earlier in the week to hold talks with the Bundesliga outfit.
Dortmund confirmed they had rejected an offer from Barca for the France winger on Thursday, insisting it did not match their valuation.
Liverpool forward Philippe Coutinho, and Borussia Dortmund’s Ousmane Dembele are believed to be the top targets for Barcelona, but face potentially being priced out of a move by the selling clubs. The France global is now suspended owing to his actions.
According to Sport, Barcelona could be prepared to spend as much as £110m on Dembele, who is thought to be strongly committed to finding a way of linking up with the La Liga club this summer.
Despite Barca’s continuous interest in the talented Brazilian, Liverpool have been reluctant to let Coutinho leave, and have reportedly turned down two bids in the span of one week.
With Liverpool remaining unmoved in their stance, Barcelona have made a decision to look for alternate options, and latest reports in Italy claim that the Catalan giants will pursue Inter Milan star Ivan Perisic if they fail to sign Philippe Coutinho. However, the midfielder is said to have submitted an official transfer request in order to force a move to Camp Nou this summer.
