Mamata Banerjee launches ‘BJP quit India’ campaign

No matter how much the anti-BJP front falters, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is not ready to give up the fight. Giving the slogan of “BJP quit India in 2019”, Banerjee charged that the BJP-led government at the Centre has “taken away the rights of the people in the country”.

At a public meeting in West Midnapore district on Wednesday she had said that she would be going on a country-wide trip trying to garner support for the movement.

“If any Opposition parties try to raise their voice, they (BJP) threatens them with central investigating agencies”. We will not allow it. According to senior TMC leaders, it was the second largest party in the Opposition camp after the Congress and hence was “working in close collaboration” with the grand old party. “They are threatening everyone with ED, CBI and Income Tax but we are not afraid of it”.

She said such kind of agitation in the hills had become common in a 10-15 year interval, adding that the time has come for election to the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration as its five-year-term comes to an end.

Ms Mamata Banerjee, who extended an invitation to the President to visit Kolkata on Thursday evening, will also attend the meeting of Opposition parties called by Mrs Gandhi on Friday to decide on the future course of action after the Parliament is over.

“On the one hand they (BJP) are lynching adivasis and people from backward sections of society, while on the other hand, they are are clicking photographs with adivasis and having lunch at their houses”, she charged. Darjeeling, Terai, Dooars are our pride. When they go to the Hills, they speak of division of the state and in the plains they speak differently. They are trying to divide Bengal. Banerjee had told the assembly that Darjeeling has been a part of West Bengal and she would not allow its division.
