Military option fully in place, locked and loaded: Trump warns North Korea

Trump has told associates that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has disrespected him and the United States and that he believes the rogue nation will only respond to toughness and the threat of force, according to two people who, like others interviewed, requested anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss private conversations.

Trump also mentioned that he will push for more funding to go towards anti-missile defense due to the threat of North Korea and other countries. The President would be told and consulted, but if the threat is imminent, the U.S. military has the right to self-defense – and could make the decision.

He then called the Governor of Guam, Eddie Calvo, and assured him that the United States military would “ensure the safety and security of the people of Guam, along with the rest of America”. While the president has a responsibility to defend the United States when another country attacks, the power to declare war (and, in so doing, to authorize the use of force) rests with Congress.

China is the DPRK’s most important ally and trading partner.

“Military solutions are now fully in place, locked and loaded, should North Korea act unwisely”, he wrote on Twitter. As has been the case nearly every week since Donald Trump was inaugurated, we need to stop and figure out how we got here.

He added: ‘But I am always quick to shutter up whenever we get typhoon advisories or tsunami warnings.

The tiny US territory of Guam came under the global spotlight after North Korea on Wednesday said it’s studying whether to launch a missile test toward the island.

Still, Mr. Trump amplified the warning on Thursday, saying maybe his “fire and fury” threat “wasn’t tough enough”. In contrast, North Korea thinks the Korean War is still on and sees the its mortal enemy. “I think that what he’s trying to do in the short run is to communicate with great intensity that we are serious”.

Tensions have escalated since North Korea tested two intercontinental ballistic missiles in July.

U.S. Defense Secretary James Mattis later tempered Mr. Trump’s harsh words, saying the U.S. still preferred a diplomatic approach to the North Korean threat.

Trump added that the US would be putting more money into its $40 billion ballistic missile defense system.

But, Snyder noted that the latest understanding of North Korean military capability is that the country may lack the re-entry technology necessary for an effective attack targeting specific parts of the USA mainland.

Trump declared yesterday that the USA military was “locked and loaded should North Korea act unwisely”.

“And your tourism, I can say this, your tourism is going to go up like tenfold with the expenditure of no money, so I congratulate you”, Mr Trump said, praising the island’s beauty, to which Mr Calvo encouraged Mr Trump to visit.

“A pre-emptive war, if one were actually thinking of executing that, would be catastrophic”, Rice said on CNN’s “Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer”.

The tensions between North Korea and the United States spurred a broad market sell-off in USA stocks.

History has demonstrated that China will not sit out a war in the Korean peninsula, and US allies South Korea and Japan will bear the brunt. “I never do”, he said.

Guam, a tropical island more than 3,000 km (2,000 miles) to the southeast of North Korea, is home to about 163,000 people.

Speaking from New Jersey Thursday afternoon while seated next to National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster and Vice President Mike Pence, President Trump told reporters North Korea will face consequences should they follow through with threats to attack Guam. There is currently no U.S. Navy aircraft carrier strike group or Marine Corps Expeditionary Unit off the Korean Peninsula right now.
