Pakistan Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi arrived in Karachi on a day-long visit on Saturday, marking his first time in the city after being elected as head of government.
“In his letter of thanks to Prime Minister Azad Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider Khan, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said Pakistan would continue to raise strong voice for the fundamental rights of Kashmiris”, Radio Pakistan reported.
He then held a one-on-one meeting with Governor Mohammad Zubair at the Governor House. PM Abbasi assured the federal government will extend all support for development in the province.
He is also expected to meet delegation of Muttahida Qoumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) today. The delegation asked the premier for their political freedom, and demanded to get their closed offices reopened.
The current situation in Karachi was discussed in the meeting.
He was nominated for the position after the Supreme Court in a landmark ruling on the Panama Papers case disqualified Nawaz Sharif as PM after deeming him unfit to hold office.
Dr Farooq Sattar talked to media afterwards and told that the premier has promised to soon announce the execution of Karachi package.
