Macron: North Korea Nuclear Crisis ‘Undermines International Peace’

“President Trump reiterated to President Macron the United States’ commitment to stop the North Korean nuclear menace”. North Korea has said it is readying plans to launch missiles towards the US Pacific territory of Guam.”I hope that they are going to fully understand the gravity of what I said, and what I said is what I mean”, Trump told reporters.

In the statement, French President Emmanuel Macron “expresses his concern” over the deterioration of the ballistic and nuclear threat from the DPRK, “which undermines the preservation of worldwide peace and security”.

“Concerned parties must exercise restraint and avoid remarks and actions that escalate tensions on the Korean peninsula”, it cited Xi as saying.

US President Donald Trump and his French counterpart pledged in a phone call Saturday to work to denuclearize North Korea, but Trump again spoke of possible “military measures” if other steps fail.

“The relationship between the two Presidents is an extremely close one, and will hopefully lead to a peaceful resolution of the North Korea problem”, it said.

Rodong Sinmun, North Korea’s official newspaper, said the volunteers had offered to join or rejoin the People’s Army after the Korea Central News Agency (KCNA) issued a statement on Monday.

Days before the war of words, the United Nations Security Council, in an exceptional session on Saturday, unanimously adopted the Resolution 2371 to impose new sanctions on the DPRK for ignoring previous resolutions and its recent intercontinental ballistic missile tests.

KCNA said on Wednesday a mass rally was held in Pyongyang to support the government.

The french president urged the global community to refrain from escalating the situation around North Korea.
