The new iOS is visually different, and definitely better.

Uber's oft-criticized location tracking has been reined in with the arrival iOS 11, with Apple forcing app-makers to give more granular controls over privacy to users. Security firm Armis recently revealed eight "critical" vulnerabilities allowing hackers to take control of smartphones and computers through the owner's Bluetooth.

Open your Settings app, tap Control Center Customize Controls. I tweaked it to add Screen Recording, Voice Memos and Alarm.

Let's hope you never have to use this one, but pressing the side button five times will let you quickly initiate a call to 911.

It turns out that using Control Center to turn off Wi-Fi only results in your phone immediately disconnecting from any network you are connected to (and auto-join for nearby networks being disabled).
