In Bihar, man beaten up for honking to move cattle off road

A pick-up truck driver suffered severe injury to his left eye when he honked in an attempt to move cattle off the road. It happened on National Highway-107 which runs from Saharsa to Maheshkhoot, Bihar. According to police, Manish Mandal (30), a Bhagalpur resident, is currently in Bhagalpur Sadar hospital. Initial reports suggested Mandal might have lost his sight but doctors said that the injury could not be as severe.

According to police, the incident occurred on Thursday night as Mandal returned from Sonbarsa Raj Saharsa. Ram Dular Yadav (a local resident) was seen crossing the highway at Maina village with his cattle. Mandal repeatedly honked to clear the road and the cattle started running. Yadav, aggrieved, reportedly rallied fellow villagers, beating Mandal.
